Last night saw some of London’s brightest stars gather in Selfridge’s car park - of all places, to help raise money for Oxfam. Compered by Ruby Wax, serenaded by Annie Lennox and rubbing shoulders with Livia and Colin Firth, the guests managed to raise over £215,000 in two hours.
Sipping Hedrick’s Gin Cocktails the attendees were able to bid on 12 auction lots. For the mere sum of £15,000 per song, an audience member could request a song from Annie Lennox. Annie sang a total of four songs. Celebrities, like Jude Law, Scarlett Johansson and Kate Moss all raided their wardrobe to donate pieces, some went to the auction and others will be available in Selfridges’ pop-up emporium from 1st April. The store will also feature carefully selected vintage pieces from luxury brands, like Biba and Jimmy Choo. Pop in to the pop-up to get daily styling sessions with fashion experts and editors.
The money raised goes the supporting Oxfam’s women’s projects across the world - protecting, empowering and supporting vulnerable women against violence, HIV and Aids and offering the poorest girls the chance to get education .
In its second consecutive year, Selfridges’ ‘Oxfam Curiosity Shop’ will opened to the public today, 1st April and will run until the 10th April.
