Valentin Yudashkin AW11

Rising star of Russia, Valentin Yudashkin  showed his Autumn/Winter 2011 collection in the dramatic and majestic setting of Palais de la Decouverte. Located in the Grand Palais, the Palais de la Decouverte set  a grandiose scene. Framing the collection in this exceptional setting, Yudashkin's pieces rose the occasion.

Famed in Russia, Yudashkin's designs are delicate and feminine. Conscious of form and colour, gowns in sweeping silks were fresh and decorated with lace and worn with fur. Accessories in complimentary tones and heals camouflaged in the same hues as the tights were fluid and flattering. The word elegant dominated the collection and was flittered with Russian tropes such as flowing coats. Hats too were key - perched nonchalantly on the side of the models heads in beiges and brown tones.

Yudashkin's collection stands as a testament that designers from outside North America and Europe deserve just as much of a platform as our home-grown ateliers.
